Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
QR Studio ("the app") is developed and published by Heet Gabani ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, email gabanihh@gmail.com.
2. Information you enter or scan in the app
Depending on the QR codes you make or save, the app may store:
- QR content: web links, text, phone numbers, email addresses and messages, SMS text, contact cards (name, organisation, phone, email, address), map coordinates, calendar events and social profile links.
- Wi‑Fi details: network names and passwords for Wi‑Fi QR codes. Passwords are masked in lists, and the app asks you to confirm before you export or share a Wi‑Fi code.
- Library and design: titles, tags, favourites, collections, colours, styles, frames, and a resized copy of any logo image you add.
- Settings: theme, default options and recent colours.
This information is stored in a private database inside the app on your device. We do not receive, upload, collect or store it on any server, and it is never shared with the advertising SDK. Android cloud backup is turned off for the app, so it is not copied to your Google account backup either.
3. Camera
The camera is used only while the Scan screen is open, to read QR codes. Frames are analysed on your device by Google ML Kit's barcode-scanning library, which is built into the app. Camera images are not saved or uploaded. You can deny or revoke camera permission at any time; you can still create QR codes and scan codes from pictures.
4. Photos, files and permissions
- Choosing images: when you add a logo or scan a QR code from a picture, the Android system photo picker gives the app access only to the image you select.
- Saving images: saving a QR code adds a new image to your gallery (Pictures). The app does not read, change or delete your other photos. On Android 10 and older, Android asks for storage permission to save the image.
- Sharing: QR images and text leave your device only when you share them through the Android share sheet.
- Backups: backup files are created only when you ask and you choose where they go. They are not encrypted; if you include Wi‑Fi codes, anyone with the file can read those passwords.
- The app does not request microphone, contacts, location, SMS, phone or broad storage permissions.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and displays banner ads provided by Google AdMob on some screens. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google's Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- Device identifiers, including the Android Advertising ID
- IP address, from which an approximate location may be inferred
- Ad interaction data (for example, ad impressions and taps), basic device and app information, and diagnostics from the SDK
Where required by law (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and certain US states), you are asked for consent before ads are requested, using Google's consent tools. You can change your choice at any time in the app under Settings → Ad privacy choices (shown where applicable). You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads or Settings → Security & privacy → Privacy → Ads).
Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
6. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK of our own.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites (beyond what Google's ad SDK does as described above).
- Scanned content is never acted on automatically. Opening links, calling, sending messages or emails and joining Wi‑Fi always need your explicit tap.
7. Data sharing summary
| Data | Stored | Shared with |
|---|---|---|
| QR content, Wi‑Fi passwords, history, collections, logos and settings | On your device only | No one, unless you share an image, text or backup file yourself |
| Camera frames while scanning | Not stored; processed on device | No one |
| Advertising ID, IP address, ad interactions | Processed by Google | Google AdMob, for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention |
8. Security
Your data is kept in app-private storage protected by Android's application sandbox and is excluded from Android cloud backup. Data sent by Google's ad SDK is encrypted in transit. Backup files you export are not encrypted, so store them somewhere safe.
9. Retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete single QR codes, clear everything with Settings → Clear history, or uninstall the app. See how to delete your data. Because we never receive your app data, we hold no copy that needs deleting.
10. Children
QR Studio is a general-purpose utility. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
11. Your rights
Because your app data remains on your device, you can view, edit, export (Back up QR codes) or delete it directly in the app. For questions about ad-related data processed by Google, see Google's privacy controls. You may contact us at gabanihh@gmail.com with any request.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The latest version will always be available at this address, with the effective date shown above.
